Competition Rules
Eligibility:
- Within the age range of 18 – 26 years on the day of the competition
- A resident of the state of Texas, or is a student in a Texas school, or is studying with a private teacher in Texas
- Not a previous First Place winner of this competition
- Not under professional management Repertoire Requirements:
- Contestants must perform music from memory.
- They will choose three works or movements from three of these five classifications: Baroque, Impressionistic, Classical, Contemporary, Romantic.
- Choice of selections to be heard, and length of audition time, will be at the discretion of the judges.
- No compositions requiring the use of a second piano or any additional instruments are permitted.

Please mail the items below in one package to the address on the application, to be received by January 21, 2012:
- Completed application form. Form may be photocopied.
- $40.00 nonrefundable entry fee payable to “Tuesday Musical Club.”
- CD recording or cassette tape recording of at least two compositions from the proposed repertoire listed on the application form.
- Proof of age – photocopy of birth certificate or any other type of legal document that provides date of birth.
Competition Rules
- The Tuesday Musical Club Screening Committee selects the contestants and reserves the right to limit the number of contestants.
- Contestants are selected by recorded audition.
- Recordings submitted with applications should be recent and of good quality. CDs or cassette tapes should be well-marked, include at least two selections, and the applicant’s name. Rewind all tapes to the starting point.
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection by February 5, 2012 via mail.
- CD’s or tapes are returned by mail if applicant is rejected. Contestants’ CD’s or tapes are returned at the competition.
- Contestants will be notified of their audition time by February 5, 2012 via mail. Every contestant must be willing to perform as early as 8:30 a.m. or as late as 5:30 p.m. Every attempt is made to accommodate requests -- see “Audition Preference” section on the form.
- The application form will ask for your repertoire as you wish it to appear in the program, if you are a contestant. It also requires your teacher’s signature.
- Changes to your submitted repertoire are allowed before February 11, 2012. If you have changes, E-mail your final repertoire (exactly as you want it printed in the program) by February 11 to fbond1@satx.rr.com and ask for a return response to guarantee your changes were received.
Competition Information
- Location of competition: Tuesday Musical Clubhouse, 3755 N. St. Mary’s Street, San Antonio, Texas, 78212. (This is not our mailing address.)
- Practice rooms at a local university within a short driving distance are available for contestants. Warm up in or near the Clubhouse prior to the audition time is not allowed. Our Clubhouse does not have practice rooms.
- Contestants and audience members are admitted into the Clubhouse between auditions only. Therefore, be prepared to wait outside the Clubhouse building for several minutes before being admitted.
- Contestants must report to the Clubhouse and sign in at least 30 minutes prior to audition time, or earlier if desired.
- Contestants must supply original publications of the music to be performed for the three judges to use during the competition on March 3. We encourage you to provide three sets of music if at all possible, such as borrowing two sets from your library. If selections or manuscripts are out of print, three photocopied sets are acceptable.
- A panel of three judges evaluates competition performances and provides written comments. Do not speak to any judge until after the awards are made.
- Contestants must be available at the end of the auditions for possible call-back.
- Any award may be withheld at the discretion of the judges. The decision of the judges is final.
- Awards are presented immediately after the close of the competition, and after the judges confer, on March 3, 2012.
- The first place winner of the competition is invited to perform at the Tuesday Musical Club’s annual luncheon on May 8, 2012, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
